Callimachos, a journalist, priest, and author, was born in Madytos, Turkey. He was educated in Istanbul, Smyrna, and Athens, and came to the United States in 1914. He was active in many Greek and Greek American associations. In his student days, he participated in the Hellenismos Society and later managed its publication, Hellenismos. Theodore Saloutos, an eminent historian of agrarian politics and reform movements, was born in Milwaukee, Wis., son of immigrant parents from Peloponnisos. He taught at the University of Wisconsin, Oberlin College, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
